Default 883 Mileage per tank?

How many miles do you get per tank on your 883? The person we bought Scootergrrl's from said that it gets about 53 MPG. Does this sound realistic.

sounds about right. I got about 100 per tank with a 2.25 peanut tank, so around 50 per gallon. But keep in mind that your speed and what gear you ride in can affect your milage quite a bit.

I had a 2001 883 Custom and checked mileage on each tank. My range was generally 45 and 58 mpg depending on what kind of driving I did. The tanks where I had many cold starts traveling a short distance, i.e., going to work and back, the mileage was on the low side of the scale. Getting on the highway and cruising at a constant speed the mileage was much better, even with the wife on the bike, I wouldgetover 150 miles on the little peanut tank.

I get a little over 50 per gallon. With the bigger tank, I start looking at about 200 miles.

Before I rejetted the carb, I averaged right at 120 miles before hitting the reserve. 3.3 gallon tank, .8 is in the reserve. So, 120 miles on 2.5 gallons, equals 48 miles per gallon. That is mostly around town riding.

Now, when I rode down the Natches Trace, I got unbelieveable milage. I know ya'll won't believe this. I didn't either. But I consistently got 67 mpg on that segment of the trip. If you're not familiar with the Natches Trace. It's a 2 lane road, no commercial vehicles, very limited access. 50 mph speed limit, which they are quite serious about.

So, I was pretty much at a constant 50 - 55 mph speed, only small rolling hills. Very rare driving conditions. The first tank, I kept wondering if I had forgot to switch the petcock back to the main tank. Thought I was never gonna hit reserve.

Oh, and I don't really suggest that as a great ride. Very boring!!

Sounds right for highway riding. I wasn't pulling exact mileage but was right around 50 mpg averaging 70-75 mph.

I have never gotten better than 47 mpg when doing Interstate Ridin at 70-80 MPH. My best mileage was 62 in the Hill country doing no more than 40MPH. I cjheck my milleage almost every tank.

My 05 883C has gotten a best of 53mpg on the highway but is usually at 50mpg and that is at speeds of 70-80mph. City driving cuts it down to between 40 and 45mpg.
