Default Seat Question

I made my first so-called road trip. 150 mile each way. I have found out the stock seat is a bit uncomfortable. So i am looking at a new seat. Looking at Sundowner seat. Is this seat comfortable for long trips? Is there other seats that are better??? mustang??

You're going to get 1,000 different opinions on this. If you do a search you'll find multiple threads on this very subject.

Mustang is the only one I'm familiar with and I love it.

Mustang will be your most popular response. There are plenty of options out there. The bigger though, typically the uglier. Do you have forward controls on your Sporty? If not, think about getting those. It WILL affect how comfortable the bike is, even the seat comfort.

I have the Sundowner. I rode my bike today for 120+ miles just because I couldn't think of anything better to do in 100+ degree weather with 80+ percent humidity. The ride was about 2/3's highway and about 1/3 backroads and byways. My *** and lower back were about the only parts of me that weren't uncomfortable.

Also, I took my kid (115 lbs) along with me as well. He didn't seem too uncomfortable riding on the back.

have had 3 seats on mine trying to find one that works for me and my +2... the wide mustang is the one on it now and i wont be changing this one out- i can pretty much ride until i need fuel now (meaning no butt time limits). my +2 comes close to that too. on long trips, your gonna feel your rear no matter what seat, unless you ride a lot during the week.

i actually like the look too...

Sundowner is great. I did an Iron Butt ride on it, 1,100+ miles in 22 hrs. I was tired, but the seat is still great 4 yrs later.

With the stock seat my tailbone would be in serious pain after a two hour ride.

I just completed a 1000 mile trip, 7 hours riding x 2 days, and total comfort with a Mustang Vintage Solo.

Of course suspension is another issue, that was upgraded as well.

Plenty in here on seats. Mustang and Sundowner probably head the comfort list. You are allowed more than one seat, so you can strut your stuff on one and swap to a more comfortable one for longer rides.

The sundowner DELUX is very comfy. Ive tried one on a buds bike, it has an actual saddle and is night and day from the stock POS. I have the stock POS and am gonna try a gel mod today or tomarrow, the memory foam mod doesnt work well because you squish it down so much reattaching the cover and alls you get is a fatter seat that doesnt adress the hip/leg joint pressure points that normally are the problem for most on long trips. The sundowner comes in Solo and 2up and alot of dealers carry it, but some dont, they just carry the day tripper.

Another option is a pillow cushon seat like the old school Sportsters had, those were good enough to goto daytona and back to NY without issues.
