Default tank lift kits

So I'm starting to look at some mods for my 2012 iron 883. I really like the looks of the two inch tank lifts. So on DO customs site, they have the regular kit, and an extra rear tank lift kit. After searching the forums, people are simply saying that they have a two inch lift. Are you guys just lifting the front part of the tank? Or are you buying both kits? Also, dk says on the website that it fits most 2012 sportster models. But when I click on it, it says it's for model up to 2011. Is there really a difference in this matter between the two years?

Recently installed the 1.5" DK lift on my 2012 Forty Eight and didn't think it was a waste of money. I don't know anything about the rear lift but I like the look of the tank sloping up in the front. Keep in mind, when you lift the front of the tank you will lose a little mileage on each tank of gas. I would have loved to lift my tank 3" but with the tank capacity being so small I chose the 1.5".

The DK kit has everything you need. The coil ignition bracket, the plug wires, you use the stock rear bolt, they give you a longer front bolt for the two extension brackets. That's it. I don't know my **** from my elbow when it comes to fabricating things so I just went and got the kit. I'm actually not convinced that you loose mileage (having been inside that tank so many times). I once got the milleage the OL and I did on the open road in the city and I ride hard so...

I used DK's kit, but ended up not doing the lift. After I got all the "junk" out of the way, I liked the look of the normal tank mount. All about preference, I like em both ways, just settled on this! DK Kit was a breeze!

Yes, it will fit your 2012, I am going to be updating the line in the description that says 2011 to match the rest of the description that says 2012.

Nothing like a schizo description to muddy the waters. lol

Regarding the Deluxe option...You do NOT want it for your 2012 Iron.

"The DELUXE Option is ESPECIALLY useful for some pre-2004 Sportsters because the Factory rear tank design does not allow the front to be lifted more than 1.5" without this Option.

Generally 2004+ Sportsters do NOT benefit from this Option unless it is imperative to move the tank back for clearance issues."
