Question for anyone who may know out there. I have a friend that is looking at a 2007 sportster 1200 low with this badge and color on the bike. He is concerned that it may not be a factory color or badge and that it may be pieced together. Carfax has been run on it and comes back clean, but I don't trust that. Has anyone seen this color or badge on sportsters? This is the deal breaker for him.
It's been repainted. The badge is not stock for the year or bike, and the factory Harley paint job is much higher quality. Unless the photo is deceiving, the paint finish looks dull, especially on the side covers. The side covers come black from the factory, but can be ordered from the MoCo color matched to the rest of the bike, as in my sig pic below.
If he likes the paint color and quality as well as the non-dime a dozen tank badge, then what does it matter if stock or not unless it's a pricing issue or general curiosity?
That emblem is from 1959-1960, referred to as the "Arrowhead" emblem. Definitely not stock, and I agree with the others when they say the paint job looks sub-par. I think I can see some fish-eyes just in the photo.
