Brand New 2012 or Used 2009 Iron??
Hi all,
Wanted to get your opinion on an Iron that my friend wants to buy. He can either get it from the dealer, brand new for $13,262 (EU10,600 - yes they are expensive in Greece!!) or go with a 2009 with around 3,000 miles for $8758 (EU7,000). Here is a link to the 2009 model in Greek

The 2009 model will be sold stock (all accessories will be removed), in good condition and hasn't done that many miles at all...
I told him to go for the 2009 model...the only changes for the 2012 are cosmetic so the bikes are the same, plus I prefer the old tank design. He can also use the savings to add as many accessories as he likes.
Thoughts?

I did the same back and forth, dealer here had a 2010 for $7,000 US, or $8200 US for a new '12.
I ultimately went with the '12 for $1200 more, simply because then it had a warranty, was 2 years newer and would start with 0 miles all me. I have never had a new vehicle of any type before so for me, at only $1200 more it was worth it. Just depends though, I would have been happy with the used one and save the $1200. I go back and forth on my decision. Either way its a good choice!

Thats where I agree with the OP decision. If the 2010 in my area had been like 5500-6000 I would have gone that route over new. Every situation is gonna be different, its weighing the pros and cons, and deciding from there.

I almost went that route, but without knowing the previous owner or how the break in was done originally, I felt more secure and better buying a brand new one with 0 miles on it, versus one that could have been beat on for the 3000 miles and now it was back before the major problems appeared.
Pretty much if he can swing it, go new, if not, then go used. Just be prepared to work on the used one if problems appear.
