Default shut right off

Just on my way home from work and it shut right off. Turn the key, no lights won't crank. Battery ok coil ok. 30amp fuse has resistance between terminals.

Any help would be appreciated. Will be needing it for work tomorrow.

Thanks John

In my similar experience, I found the ground wire was not making a good connection. I removed the battery cables, wire brushed the ends, and then reassembled with dielectric grease snugging the cables down real well. It has solved the problem for 5 years which seems to be endemic with the Sportsters. Look around the forum and you will see a ton of posts similar to yours that all point to the connections of the battery cables. For the time being, loosen the ground connection on the engine, wiggle it around, and tighten well. Also tighten the cable connections at the battery. When you get the chance, perform the "full monty" as described above.

Precisely what I was going to say, but in a less articulate way. I think he nailed it.
