I don't see how I'm going to get another quart plus out of the oil filter. to add up to around 2.7-2.8 quarts.

I bought 3 quarts for the oil change.
Did you remove the dipstick? You need to let some air into the system.
Also give it time to drain both in the upright position as well as on the jiffy stand.

Second thought... Are you sure you didn't just drain the primary instead of the oil tank?
If you used a wrench to remove a plug, you drained the primary.

Well, at least he also has a good idea how much primary oil to put back in if he did.

Are you sure the oil level wasn't low to begin with?
And the oil was hot when you drained it, right?

I actually didn't check the oil level before (should have). It's been about a thousand miles now since I had the 1200 conversion done on it, so I wanted to get any metallic bits out of the oil. I ended up putting in almost the entire third quart.

And yes, I emptied and checked with the engine hot.

and no, I definitely drained the oil. The little tube under the bike with the rubber plug in it, I didn't remove any bolts with a wrench.

Sorry MP, I'm a little late with the picture, I'll post it anyway just in case some one else wonders about it.

Definitely my mistake for not having checked the oil level before hand. If it was low, looks like it was about a quart low. I've never seen the oil light come on though. I'm heading out to give it a ride around the block to make sure nothing is leaking and I'll check the oil level again when I get back.
