Look at Progressive shocks website to see what fits your ride. You can get a pair of 440 IAS shocks for 1/3 of that price or 412's even cheaper depending on your total weight. If you want to go with air shocks go with the Road King take offs for even cheaper. lots on eBay.

If you take a look at your bike you will see that you sit roughly over the swingarm axle, while your gf sits over the wheel axle. That means you each get a different riding experience and reality is you get the better one! So riding solo is more comfortable and our passengers deserve more effort that many owners are prepared to admit.

First of all your gf deserves a good quality passenger seat, something no Sporty has as stock. Harley makes a Sundowner, which you should be able to try at your local Harley dealer, also Mustang make an excellent passenger seat. If you use search on here you will find those names probably come up most often when a passenger is involved. You can help her even more with a backrest, but get one to match any new seat you buy.

The foundations for a good ride are better tyres (any brand other than stock) and shocks. Don't penny pinch, especially on shocks, as you get what you pay for.

Matt, I also have a 1200, 2007, I tooke the stock 11.75" (immoveable object) shocks off and put these Progressive 440 standards on in the 13.5" length along with Progressive Fork Springs and Belray 7w Fork Oil. Great combo The shocks have 3+ inches of travel.

PS, I have the very seat suggensted by Mr. Brown, the Harley Sundowner, I take long trips on this bike to western Pa., Black Hills SD, although I trailered it to Columbia, Mo. The 440s do not have positive stops on the shocks so I cranked the shocks down to their softest setting and put a spot of black paint on the notch that was on the inside.

I have these and I don't recommend them based on the cost alone. I bought mine used on one of those "too good to pass up" type deals. I'd say ride quality is about the same as just doing the Touring shock swap. Only benefit is I can adjust my air pressure on the fly depending on road conditions or if I'm riding 2 up or whatever. I also let the air out when I'm parked so it sits low. Why? Just because. Any questions just ask.

If you are looking for take off air shocks off of a HD touring bike, you want the "lowering" shocks, or the 12" shocks off of a StreetGlide for a Sportster Custom. 13" Roadking shocks will work, but will add height to the rear. I also have a 1200C and used shocks with part number 54662-09, I found them used in the classifieds area of this site. Great ride improvement, especially 2-up.

I put progressive 412 hd on (4), and then mustang vintage 12.5" with
8" passenger pillion. OL says wow, big difference! Between me and her, and gear in a sissy bar ( good for her lower back) bag we max out on my 2012 custom sporty. I ride on (2) solo. Lots of options out there.
