Default truing a wheel?

Should this be done on the nightster wire rims? How often should it be done? Are there any specific tools needed to do so? One of my buddy's was over talking about how he took his honda in to make sure the rims were true. I can't say I've ever heard about this, and I'm curious as to how it is done, and is there a noticeable difference in the ride quality?

They come trued from the factory. You just have to make sure the spokes stay tight and not bend the rim or something like that.

Truing is only done when you build the wheel. It's very rare for a wheel to become out of true in regular use as long as maintenance is kept up with.
