Friends,

I own a Sportster 883 Low in Brilliant Silver and I'd like to make it look like a pre-rubber mount Sportster...(the way I first knew a Sportster...)

I've alredy put the old square mirrors and now I'm looking into change the air cleaner cover to the one of the 2003-earlier models...

Has anyone done this mod?? will I have to change the backplate as well?

It'll fit if you have the stage 1 deal. I don't know if it will fit with the factory snail spout backing plate. I wouldn't use an older backing plate though. Their crank case vent oil mist redirect SUCKS...and for what it's worth, 2003 mirrors and your mirrors are the same.

 

As stated above, upgrade the air cleaner and your options really open up. When I used to have an '06 883 Low I put an Ness stage II and used an older round cover (not sure if it was from a 80" or 88").

Regarding the mirrors, do you still have the stock ones?

 

Yes, I do have the stock mirrors but I do not intend to sell them for the moment....
