Default Got a "Bus Erorr" message after washing bike

Last night I washed my 2006 1200C for a bike show, poker run and events on this Saturday and when I started it up to put it back in the garage I got a Bus Error message on the speedometer and the check engine and red key lights were on and the tach was bouncing around some and then settled down. I haven't checked for any diagnostic codes yet but was planning on doing that tonight. I don't think I accidentally disconnected anything but will check that tonight as well. I have not had this happen after washing the bike before or after riding in really bad rain storms. Any help on explaining what this message means and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have anything happen to sideline me for Saturdays events. Thanks.

Let the bike sit for a day to dry out, preferably in the sun, and see if that doesn't fix it. You likely got water where it doesn't belong.

cHarley,

I was hoping you would chime in. I thought the same thing so when I got it into the garage I set up two fans facing the bike and turned them on to dry everything out. I'll see after I get home tonight if this helps.

Thanks,

Earnie

I'm sure it was BUS. But if it what BAS then what would this be for?

BAS is your Bank Angle Sensor.

Bus Err is a common message that refers to a problem with the Data Buss. All of the major electronic components on the bike communicate via the Data Buss.

I've got these codes saved in a file along with the procedure for retrieving them. I needed this a few years ago when I had a crank position sensor go bad. I'll check for any codes tonight to make sure I haven't missed anything and to clear any codes out.

I checked the DTC's and had these codes: U1064, U1097 U1255, and U1301. I cleared the codes, started it up and check for any new codes and didn't have any. I rode into work this morning and it ran fine without any issues. I guess I got to much water on a connection and cause the codes to come up. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it does it again and check the codes.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.
