You need to buy a shop manual for it if you plan on keeping it. I used the clymer manual and it was pretty good.

So let me see if I understand...Was everything working right before the battery died? Did you put the new battery in and then it wouldn't start? Before you played with the wires to get it started was it cranking? What wires were you playing with when it started?

Sporties are known to have loose and dirty connections on the battery cables. First place to start is to take them out, clean both ends, reinstall and make sure they are tight.

Check your plugs...

If its cranking and not starting my guess would be the crank sensor

Start with the cables or keep wiggling wires everytime you want to start it

I think the black box you are refering to is the maxi fuse. You should be able to slide it open and pull out the fuse before you mess with the battery or terminals

If you're talking about the box that's clipped to the end of the battery, it's the 30 amp master fuse. Unclip it from the battery and pull it open. Remove the fuse and clean the contacts, coat the contacts with dielectric grease and reinstall.

If you don't have dielectric grease, get some from your local auto parts store. It's a good idea to coat every electrical contact on the bike with the grease, including all fuses, relays and battery connections.
