i have jump started hundreds 0f bikes, several mopeds, several lawnmowers, a few tractors with a 12v car batttery.. even jumped a 6 volt 53 ford once.. you usually don't need the car engine running.. it wont hurt anything.

using the bikes charging system to fully charge a dead battery is worse then anything else.. it can fry the charging system quick.

I thought that you could not start a fuel injected bike by rolling down a hill. If you did, how fast do you think you were going and what gear were you in?

Tried pushing mine when my batt was low...no go. Pushed it back home, jumped in the car, drove to Walmart grabbed a tendet. Placed it on for about 45 minutes and she fired up.

I did it today. I had it in neutral and got it going then dropped it into first and popped the clutch. It was close, a bit slower and it wouldn't have started. The rear wheel skidded a bit. I wasn't going very fast, the hill was in a parking lot and not very steep.

My battery tender is going to die a slow painful death.

Neighbor tried to push start his EFI Triumph. Down the hill, around the corner, DOWN that hill. Not mechanically inclined. Didn't read his book either. Can't push start an EFI bike. Jumped it with mine so he could get it back home. I wasn't gonna push it back up the hill. The man has no business on a bike. Brother!

Did it today, believe it or not. When you toggle the "run" switch on you can hear the fuel pump prime, so I don't know why it wouldn't unless you forget to flip on the "run" switch.

Yeah no ****.... I've helped push freaking cars in parking lots. Go fast enough and pop the clutch...

If you can't push start your bike in any situation, IN MY OPINION your bike is to big for you (ladys excluded).

Just find a hill with at least a little incline, or a flat ground
Put it in first or second
Push it from the left side holding in the clutch
get it going good, and depending on your weight you really dont need to go fast
jump on, and as soon as all your weigh connects before the suspension bounces back
pop the clutch just enough to here it turn a rev and then hold her back in

I weigh 135,pretty damn strong, and ive done it to my bike with steal toed harley boots on. Just put some nut into just push it like your tackling Obama
