Wrapping Exhaust Pipes - Soak or not to Soak
#11
I dropped my wrap in a bucket and it sat in the water until I finished wrapping. Worked out really well. Mine faded as well, but I like the color. AND like everyone is saying, it will smoke like crazy for a little bit. I rode mine around my neighborhood and people were staring. I was also screaming as if my bike was on fire...... Got um.

Pulled the pipes off the bike and loosely wrapped them dry to get a good measure point to cut them to size. Then, I dropped the roll in a bucket of water. After a minute or two, I pulled the roll out, threw it on the driveway and started wrapping from the base to the flange. After both were done, I bolted the back up and hit the ignition. Smoked like she was on fire and smelled like **** for about 30 minutes. After that they just smelled like **** but looked good.
After about two hundrwd or so miles, the smell was gone. Been wrapped a little over a year and made numerous trips in the rain. The rain would burn off instantly. Got home one day, pulled my boots off and dumped out the ankle deep water...pipe wrap was dry.
It has faded a bit, but not enough to be problematic. The wrap works and that is the most important part.
