Well it certainly looks very skinny to me but I'll consider your advice when I'm due for new tyres . Maybe it's the diameter that makes it look do thin .

 

Some brands are lower profile than others. Stay away from the Shinko 777 front tyre if you want a chunky front.

I think I was comparing mine to some of the more modern Sportsters.

 

Ok I'll think about fitting a 110 . Did you have to bend the fender supports at all ? My 100 looks pretty close already . Thinking about it though , an extra 10mm isn't going to make a lot of difference because I only appear to be using 80 % of the tyre anyway .

 

Same issue with mine, only thing that fixed it was tightening spokes. (Correct air pressure too, of course) If you have spokes, I'd be willing to bet this is it. Don't trust a dealer..3 trips to my local one. I ended up having to tighten in my garage, which yes I should have done 1st anyways.

 

Any time there is a speed wobble one of the first things to check is the fall a way. Loose steering bearings will cause it. The only time I ever had a bad wobble that was it.

 

No I didn't bend anything. But because the clearance is so little, you'll have to install the wheel first, squeeze the tyre past the fender brackets and then inflate. You do look like you have a pretty chunky 100. I installed the 110 just for looks: it's taller and so, it closes the gap between the tyre and the fender.

How do you fix that?

Ive heard a few guys say that a couple of loose spokes in either front or back wheels is enough to have an adverse affect on the gyroscopic forces of the wheel to not track as they should.

I guess it’s not that much when ya bugging round at 30-40 mph, but when ya got those wheels spinning at 90 , you’ve got some serious **** going on down there.

Get this sorted cos she’ll dump you on ya *** when you least expect it.
