Default Handling and Fat Tires

I just sold a Shelby Cobra Replica and need a new toy. I'd like to get a Harley, but haven't ridden a motorcycle since I was about 15 (now 41), plus I'd have to convince my wife I wouldn't kill myself if I got one. What would be a good inexpensive bike to start with?

I love the look of the 48 with the fat tires! I was wondering how the steering and handling is of those bikes compared to say a standard 883?

Thanks,

Joe

The 48 and the custom are the best handling out of all the sposrtster due to the 16" rims and wide tires. They are pretty much set up like a sport bike as far as wheels and tires go.

So with that being said go buy that 48 you fukin love it!

if handling was described as how limber a bike is when turning or reacting, a skinnier tire would be the answer. however sportsters for the most part weren't made to handle, more to just ride. I drag my exhaust all the time trying to run deep into corners.

On my previous Superbike, I went from a 180 to a 200 and there was a noticable difference in response when going into corners. Maybe response is the wrong word but it required a different effort
