Default Derby Cover Swap

With my dealership credit, I'm going with the Roland Sands Clarity Line Derby Cover. (i know way over priced, but basically goinh to be free) Anyone out there have one? Would you get it again? How much stuff is going to come pouring out and what do I replace it with on 2011 1200 evolution motor? And, is there a gasket that comes with, or, do I have to get a new one separately. Thanks all....

I use the HD Formula+ transmission fluid, $8 at the dealership. If your bike is on the side stand when you take the cover off, fluid will come out. If you have a lift (or even a scrap 2x4 under the jiffy stand) to get it upright, you won't lose much, if any. It would be a good time to change the fluid if it's due, it takes exactly one bottle to change it.

Not sure on the gasket, they should include a new one, but you could probably reuse your old one if you needed to. I've never seen a clear derby cover on a Sportster, might look cool with the fluid splashing around.

I just replaced my derby cover on my '12 883 engine. got the bike straight up and down, zero fluid came out, there was a drip on the OEM derby cover from when it was tilted on the side stand. but once verticle. nada.

RSD doesn't make a clarity line derby cover for the Sportsters(6 hole cover). I have emailed them and they said no. Only 1999-2012 5 hole twin cam and 1970-1998 3 hole big twin covers.

I had figure machines make mine. went with a plain one and had them custom engrave into it what I wanted.

I wanted 1 also but ended up going with a dark custom #1 cover and powder coating it in brass to match the rest of my bike theme. Maybe later on they will make one for us Sportsters!

The only clarity line piece that is going to work on the sportster is the intake. Other than that, all the clarity line stuff is for the twin cam motors.

They're right. Have you taken your derby cover off to see what is under there yet?
