Default 07 883r Exhaust Question

I've removed the baffles from my 883r, but I still don't like the look. Would it be incredibly stupid for me to hack the mufflers off? I'd like to saw them off and wrap the remains in exhaust wrap. Would doing this end up biting me in the sack?

Do yourself a favor...go BUY a set of something. Everyone here that has hacked and cutor gutted, ended up with some sort of "I don't like it", either performance or sound or looks. My .02. Dave

They will end up rustin out, the cut will brak the chromes seal to the metal. No bash intended, but that is a Bush League thing to do.
We wrapped my sons Cycle Shack pipes over the week end, looks good, if ya like that look.

don't hack it off man. thats just bad juju on a Harley. i thought about hacking mine off too (just to get rid of the slash tips) and with a little, only slight, very miniscule, advise from an old fart knocker on here i changed my mind. if you want it louder then buy a cheap set of drag pipes. a lot of people complain about drag pipes but it's your bike do what you want. and well, if you want to hack 'em, then hack 'em. but i wouldn't advise it. just get a set of cheap pipes and wrap 'em. you can see what they look like if you look at my sig.

later, hope this helps,

wanna

I agree the OEM mufflers lack the "look." Ironically, if the bikes came with slash-cuts, we would all want the tapered look [sm=confused06.gif]
That said, I have frequently seen SE mufflers and other used slip-ons for $70-100 that would fit your bike (04-07). Generally, the used mufflers are in good shape as they were taken off when someone converted to a full exhuast/drag-pipes or reverted the bike to stock for resale. Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing.
