Mini apes on a 2011 883 Super Low installed
Installed a set of Harley mini apes on my wife's Super Low today and just wanted to pass along what I learned. When I was getting the parts together there was a question as to what exactly was needed as far as cables/wires to make the switch from the stock bars. I got a few different answers and to me it looked as if the clutch cable was long enough but I wasn't sure about the rest. I ended up getting a Barnett mini ape kit (Harley items were way more expensive) which included both throttle cables, clutch cable & a brake line. I also got the main wire harness extension and turn signal extension from Harley.
So the install was pretty easy and we ended up only changing the brake line and adding the two extensions for the main harness and signals. The stock clutch cable was easily long enough and the throttle cables just had to be re-routed a little make them work without binding or any other problems. Quite honestly I don't think we really "needed" the wire and signal extensions either but I didn't want them to be stretched out so much so we just put them on.
So you really only need a new brake line (if you don't want to bend the metal part on the stock line to fit) and the two extensions. The only issue was the extensions are a lot longer than they need to be and you need to zip tie everything up and out of the way after installing them.
It's really amazing how much a simple bar switch can make on a bike. The stock bars put your hands in an odd position, to me, and she was having a problem with her hands going numb. Now they are higher and pulled back to a nice position.

OK here ya go.
You can see in this pic where the throttle cables were originally. There is a little plastic guide that they were positioned in (see where I'm pointing.) We moved them up a little to gain some extra length instead of changing them out for longer ones. Everything works perfectly, no binding or stretching anything to it's limit. Went on a 100+ mile ride yesterday and she LOVES the mini's.
