Default How to clean the grey part of the motor on Nightster

What is the best way to keep the grey part of the motor clean on a 09 nightster? When you try to polish it leaves polishing marks.

Thanks

I had about given up on getting some stains off the "grey part of the motor" AND off my rocker covers & primary cover.

Tried a dozen different cleaners.

Picked up some Excites Pure Metal Polish and it cleaned it all right up. Amazing stuff.

It's expensive, but it is the first thing I found that works.

Try a magic eraser. It made the white chrome polish marks disappear off the black wrinkle engine finish of my sportster. And I had tried everything else....
Good luck.

Metal polish on textured powder? Hmmmmm...

When I got Mobil-1 synthetic all over mine, I just hit it repeatedly with some non-chlorinated brake cleaner and used a paper towel to pull the yellow oil that the brake cleaner lifted. Cleaned it right up. I would also thing that dish soap and water would clean it up nicely. I guess if all else fails and / or you want a darker appearance, you could spray it all down with something like G96 or silicone spray and thoroughly dry afterwards.

Simple Green. I start with a 50-50 water mixture in a spray bottle and use it full strength if warranted.

Brake cleaner works great, spray and wipe. Harley also sells a touch up spray can, I pull my covers every now and then and respray them.

The best thing I found to take care of the stains is a can of black spray paint.
