I'll look it over good tonight.
Ya, I took all my lighting, strut covers and other crap off so there's nothing underneath back there now. Closest thing to my tire is the belt.

According to the Total Motorcycle.com website the Dunlop 401 Rear 150B80-16 is 6.15 inches wide. That works out to just over 156mm. The Dunlop K591 Rear 150B80-16 is 6.25 inches or 158.75mm. The Avon Venom V rated Rear 150/80-16 154mm wide. So in theory the Dunlop K591 is about .2 inches wider than my Avon. No telling though how it would work out in reality. cHarley is getting his numbers from someplace else and they may be more accurate. I found this doing my research - the online stats tend to vary from sight to sight. I think most of this stuff is more of a guideline than a rule.

btw, in my search for the widest 150/80-16 inch rear tire I could find I found the Continental Conti Tour was widest, at least in the online stats department. J&P Cycles website lists it at 164mm/6.46 inches wide. I thought about running them both front and rear on mine but decided on the Venom's due to the availability of the 150 designed specifically for the front and the Continental may require a 3.5" rim instead of the 3" rims I have. Opinions vary on that as well, so who knows?

Thanks man, very handy. Darn...not seeing any 160/70-16 tires...yet.

ETA: Thanks for that info Ergo. I'm NOT a fan of Conti's at all after having a set of 31x10.50's on a Ranger, that were absolute $#!T, but I suppose motorcycle tires may not be created equal. Think I'll steer clear none the less. I wonder if those K591's are any better than the stockers...that's what I am looking at now. Maybe I should focus on what do to with the front as I have more options there.

From the Total Motorcycle.com website - "Originally designed for racing but now incorporating refinements to meet the demands of sport and sport-touring riders, the K591 is the only tire approved for Harley-Davidson sport models and carries a V speed rating."

Might be worth a look.

Those numbers are the same as the UK site. Interesting to compare the US and UK sites at present - it seems there are changes in the range afoot!

The V-rated tyre has less tread depth than the H-rated. Also, of course, when riding on one we have to go over 130mph.....

Anyone have any experience with the Dunlop Screaming Eagle gt502 ? .. if you look in this video it looks pretty fat on that iron:

All the info from the HD site is "16'' Rear - GT502 150/80B16 Blackwall":

That's not a 150 on the bike in the video, looks more like a 180+.
Note the custom (wider) wheel and the belt and sprockets look to have been moved outward to accommodate the wider wheel and tire. That's why there's no cover on the front sprocket.

I can't get to that site at work for whatever reason, but I did find some K591 info on another site. Supposedly Dunlop "discontinued" the K591 in favor of a K501, but "sold" the K591 to H-D to use as their "SE" performance tire. Only thing is they are softer for added grip, but mileage greatly suffers. Supposedly one guy got 16k on the D401, but only 5-6k on the K591.
