There are a few choices for slip ons. The SE, the Rush and the V&H are a few. They also are in that order as far as how loud they are. I haven't heard them personally but I've been told the Rush is a good compromise between the relatively quiet SE and the crazy loud V&H. Even with the quiet baffle the V&H have a loud as hell. I set off car alarms if I'm not careful. One guy's in particular I always pass. lol.

The Rush, from the YouTube sounds nice. But you can't really gauge how loud they are on YouTube. Here's my YouTube of my pipes:

They're much louder in person. At 10' directly behind the pipes I measured how loud my V&H pipes are with my SPL meter and they're 98db with spikes to 103db. From 15' in front of the bike I measured them at 89db with spikes to 94db. Just to give you perspective.

I've got Rush 2" baffle slash cuts in my 09 Nightster and love them. Great sound and have set off a few car alarms with them. Only problem is that now I want full exhaust, a new air cleaner, and a tune, but they are definitely worth the money. They were the first things I bought for mine.

I talked to the salesman from the dealership. He knows quite a bit and he said that the 1.75" baffle rush slip-ons sound very similar to the SE II's that are not made anymore. He said anything over 1.75" they might pop when decellerating and might need a tune to run right. If I stick with 1.75" and don't mess with the AC it will be a major improvement in sound. In a few years I will have to have a full system put on and opened up with a dyno tune. I ordered them for $270+free shipping. Now I'm anxious for them to show up!

I would highly recommend a pair of XiED's to go with those.

Your dealership is on point with their tuning information. Tuning is always recommended but with your setup it should not be required to get the bike back to stock settings. IMO the 1.75" baffle sound really good on Sportsters. Deep tone at idle, loud when you get on it, not obnoxiously loud when cruising. I have seen many posts on here about people having success with the Xied's and slip-on mufflers. They should not be required for your setup but I've read they can cool the bike down a bit. Thanks for choosing Rush.

Got the 1.75" slip on mufflers today! Put them on and almost **** my pants when I started it. The guy at the dealer told me it would sound better, not sound like a whole different animal! I love it! It's very very close to being too loud for my taste but I'll get used to it. Probably going to have to use earplugs it resonates a bit inside my 3/4 helmet.

Glad you're liking the sound of your new ride. I know slip-ons made a big change on mine as well. I to need to get some earplugs. I feel my ears ringing after a long ride.

It's like I've fallen in love with the bike all over again. Even driving through town trying to be quiet I get all sorts of people turning heads. Can't imagine what would happen if I rode it like a raped ape. I used to be able to just feel the amount and torque it has now I can feel and hear it!
