Default Has anyone used Nite Shade on their tail lights?

I would like to 'black out' my back lights, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this? I found a really nice write up on my other toy's forum (06 Monte Carlo).

What do you guys think? Are there better options out there? I have the tinted front turn signals. They were on the bike when I bought it. I would like something darker than that, but I want to stay safe too.

I used it on mine. Ive used it multiple times on my vehicles and other toys. It works great but if your not careful you can make it to dark. Start with 1 or 2 lite coats to make sure you dont go to dark. It tends to dry darker.

I'd like to see a picture of it once you're done.

I have. Three light coats. My friends told me they could not see my brake light! Acetone removed. Visibility is important.

plus 1.

I've done it. Won't do it again. To me, it's even kind of a ghetto mod. Don't recommend.

ghetto maybe, but its cheap if you dont feel like buying smoked signals. Ive never had a problem with visibility. You just have to make sure you dont put it on heavy. Every time ive used it, i put on one coat, let it dry and check the transparency then go from there. Light has always shined through just fine.

Is there a better alternative? I like the blacked out look, but I didn't think Harley made the smoked lenses for the back?

Off hand sounds like a bad idea.

I have used them on my car, wet sand then throw some clearcoat on them to make look like glass..... But imho... I wouldn't use it on a bike, people dont pay attention as it is, with night shades its harder to see the brake lights right away unless you use leds
