Because I have a budget? I have a certain bike in mind, but it needs to fit my finances. If the 883 iron is the closest starting point (which I believe it is) then that's the one I'll pick. Yes, I'd love a street bob, but unless you can find me an '07 or newer in Denim Black for under $10k, it's not an option right now. I'm not looking for a track day bike, I'm looking for a bike my wife and I can enjoy on some mountain/around town rides, and one I will enjoy on my commute.

If you really want a street bob keep looking and you'll find one.

$9390 and its from a dealer.

Its not denim but the price is where you need.

Like I said, you have to do what's right for you. Lots of advice on what others would do in your shoes but that doesn't make them right and they're not wrong.

However, if you don't take pictures of what you wind up with that is wrong. LOL

Well, I went and did some test rides today. The dealership I went to didn't have the 883, so I rode a couple of nighsters (one with forward controls, one with mid controls). They are fun little bikes, but I just don't think my wife would enjoy riding on them. The riding compartment is just too small and I'm afraid that if I don't get something that's a bit more suited to her, I will have defeated the purpose of buying a bike - which is getting to do something we BOTH enjoy.

So, my eyes are set now on a Street Bob. I went and test rode a Dyna, but I'm going back tomorrow to test out a Street Bob and Fat Bob. New, both are completely out of my price range, but I've got my eyes peeled on craigslist. It looks like I'll have to make some compromises (be it the year, the color, and mileage), but ultimately I think it'll be a better fit. Thanks for all of your insight, guys! I'll be sure to continue to post my results.

don't forget wide glides!

although, i do agree with Robotech
can only compare my Wide Glide and that has a far worse lean angle than my Sportster and when you add in the extra rake it's handling dimishes a bit further.
i am looking to raise mine up a little, tired of dragging my boot.

Does the Street Bob have a better lean angle than the wide glide?
