i also had a ignition module go bad, and had that replaced.
so far ive put over 12000 miles since july, and plan on putting the 1200 kit when i reach 75000 miles.
are big twins more durable? a quote from one of the techs "sportsters are built as fun bikes, for around town and stuff. if you want to do highway driving like you do, you should get a big twin"
any opinions?
I got my 2011 Iron XL883N last in March of 2011. I am close 10K, I drive around 75 miles daily. No problem! Love it. I did some upgrade like the SE Big breather and new pipes, better foot peg and a quarter fearing to help on comfort driving at 70mph in highway. So far love it. My suggestion, change HD Service tech. Last time I took my HD to install a garage opener, they didnt fallow the installation instruction and ended up fixing it my self. So try another dealer.

It's a shame that so many sporty riders tell others that they should upgrade to a touring bike when they probably have never drove one themselves! I've drove my pops EG Classic and after riding that, I can not wait to get back on my bike!

I test drove a Wide Glide a month ago and if I ever did leave the sportster family, that would be my only other consideration.

Im thinking you could have had a bigger bike and still had all those things go wrong in the amount of miles you do
Theyre just trying to help the sales dept and get you to spend money

Doh! Oh well, Sporties have not changed that much since 2007.
OP has probably traded up to an Electra Glide and then traded that on a bass boat by now.
