Default While drunk last night I had what I thought was a great idea

And now sober I still do, so help me pick it apart before I do it....

My bike now has no front brake (no that's not the great idea). Using the footbrake only has major drawbacks that you might not think of until you had to do it, I certainly didn't think of it. The drawback being mostly at stop lights and manuevering the bike around in parking areas, etc.. where you need both feet on the ground, but you need the bike to keep from rolling downhill etc, or you just need it to stay put with both feet firmly planted. Forget it, right?

OK, so while drunk with my buddies I thought - why the f' not just wire up the handbrake to work with the rear brake instead of using it as a footbrake?

Genius, right? Simple, cheap, and solves the problem directly. We all agreed it was a genius idea, but I'd had a lot to drink. This morning I still like it.

Done? Only time I'm ever done with something is when I'm signing the title over.

Handles fine now, but that's not the issue. Why is this not "the most sensible idea", other than installing a front brake itself?

what buggy said - because you might not want both wheels locking up if you stomp on the brake pedal <-- never mind the stomping, just reread the original post again - but still what buggy said

I'm just impressed that you can remember your good ideas the next day!

Nah, only if I want to retain the foot brake function. I wouldn't want that, just use the hand brake master cylinder and disregard the one for the foot pedal entirely.

This doesn't make sense - why would I need that? There's only the hand control/brake, and only one master cylinder. Why "what buggy said"??????
