Stupid question about the HD throttle
Why the need for two cables on the injected bikes? Every time I take the cables off for one reason or another I ask myself this question. The butterfly valve is spring loaded/closed, it is solely responsible for returning the throttle to idle when released. Why is that second cable really needed? Where I'm going with this is I'm looking to replace the bulky switch/throttle housing on my chopper with something else and I don't know why I can't use an internally wired throttle.
Why the second cable? I can adjust just fine without it. What am I missing?

It's a push/pull system although the push cable is only for safety purposes. Plenty of people have deleted the second cable since the return spring is strong enough to snap the throttle back into place once you rotate your hand forward. I plan on doing this soon with either a Biltwell Whiskey throttle or the internal throttle from Nash.

I believe I'll be going this direction for my switches. Except my start button will either be a solenoid mounted push button or wire up a car style ingition switch and ditch the current key setup. I've already started trimming up an extra set of levers/perches.

I have the Nash Sticky right now and i'm only running 1 cable. I've now bought the Biltwell Whisky for 2 cable set ups but I might still just run 1 cable. I had my nash throttle really stick today because I washed the bike last night. Kinda scary but anyway...can't wait to mount the new bars and whisky throttle. The pick HERE posted is a Biltwell throttle.

Are you sure that's a Biltwell throttle? I mean, it could be but it looks alot like the cheapo Ebay throttles I use. I've never had a problem with them. I like the nylon sleeve. I won't use a throttle with a non-plastic sleeve.
Here's the Ebay throttle
