Stupid question about the HD throttle
#11
I'm just a new guy but I have done all the maintenance on my scoot and from my limited exprience, the aft cable is your idle cable and the forward cable is your throttle cable. Simply explained, the idle cable's sole purpose is a safety in lieu of a stuck throttle. So, I would say deleting the second cable would not be very intelligent unless you understand and accept the risk of being on your scoot with a stuck throttle. As for me, I'll keep my idle cable.

Not very intelligent? How intelligent do you have to be to shut your bike off or pull in the clutch cable if something sticks. How intelligent is it to ride on the highway on two wheels with your entire body exposed?
Come on man...live a little. The second cable is a LAW for bike production. How many laws do you find a little overbearing?

I believe I'll be going this direction for my switches. Except my start button will either be a solenoid mounted push button or wire up a car style ingition switch and ditch the current key setup. I've already started trimming up an extra set of levers/perches.

Lol...what do you excpect with a name like "Sticky"? But really, you might need to put a bolt in the 2nd throttle hole if you run a single. Some cables can't be adjusted enough to limit the roll back.
Are you sure that's a Biltwell throttle? I mean, it could be but it looks alot like the cheapo Ebay throttles I use. I've never had a problem with them. I like the nylon sleeve. I won't use a throttle with a non-plastic sleeve.
Here's the Ebay throttle

and here is one I shaved

My Nash gets stuck after the bike gets wet sometimes but its no biggie I just wiggle it around some.
The Biltwell is very light and smooth.
