Default Why do I like Sportsters..whats wrong with me?

For some reason I just love sportsters. Have been looking for an HD and every time I look I always fall back to liking sportsters over every other bike. Am 52 years old and can buy any bike in the building. I do like old school bikes so maybe that is the reason. I don't know. Have ridden dirt bikes all my life with the occasional street but was always an old school Honda or Triumph. Am 6' tall so all my buddies tell me I need to get a bagger. They all ride Fatboys, Road Kings, Street Glides. But every time I look I gravitate right back to the new 1200C, Nightster, or 48. Is crazy I know so whats wrong with me?!

Sportyitis............. every time I go to a dealer I make an honest effort to look at and appreciate all the different kind of bikes. I fail miserably every time. They just dont do it for me, might as well be looking at honda preludes or something. Ill stick with my sporty.

Thats because you like sharp lines and fast bikes, geezerglides just dont offer that. Nothing wrong with it either.

Just bought one myself. I've got a sportbike (Ducati) and have been looking at Harleys for a long time, was certain I was going to get a Dyna Fat Bob. But, I rode an 09 1200C and just loved it. Enjoy!

This is how it went for me with the 48. The only other bike I even remotely like is the nighttrain/blackline. But I was just drawn to the 48 it's a very unique looking harley in todays line up. It gets a ton of compliments, especially from guys that are old enough to remember the old knuckleheads driving around when they were younger. It rides rough and shakes and handles great. I love it!

I understand, I'm about an inch away from turning 60. I've always wanted a Sportster, bought mine last year.

I see it as a hot rod, way too much fun before I get too old to enjoy it. When that time comes, maybe I'll buy a big twin and putt on down the road. I hope that time doesn't come for quite awhile.

as much as all the other models are great to look at, the practicality of the sporty wins me over, shame they never made it with a larger capacity fuel tank, ,but wouldnt change my roadster for anything

I still love my sporty and use it as a daily ride. I can go anywhere without even giving it another thought. I have a glide that I've put in situations that I was not sure I could get out, never happens with the sportster.
