Lookin for my first bike - need some input
#11
those are much more $ used... about 11 grand.
the main reason for the 883 is the insurance is cheaper than the 1200.
i got a quote on a 2008 CBR600rr full coverage with only a learners permit for $120/month.. the 883 is 150/month with the same company and the 1200 would go up a lot... i think probably around the $200 mark.
the only reason im able to insure it for 550/year is because of the discount i get with my current ins company for having multi vehicle discount. (which as of today is just my cadillac... i just completed the sale of my truck 10 min ago, but ill get the discount back when i add the harley)
i wouldnt be surprised if i sell the 883 in a year or 2 and get something bigger and brand new. or just keep it and have 2 bikes.
its a first bike, i would buy 1 thats older, i just really want EFI (dont want to mess with a carb) and something i can trust to learn on. i know the 1200 and the 883 are both dogs..but the 883 will do for now. maybe ill jump on a Dyna next.
edit - ---
so i pulled the trigger on it. he had it imported on may 7/2009 through a dealership thats next to his house, and he took ownership of it on may 11/2009.
hes getting it saftied for me and ill have it maybe this friday if he can get it done, if not im getting it off him next week.
im not in a rush because its not getting insured for probably 4 weeks or so.
