Keep or ditch the bags?

I have a Lick's Solo bag for small stuff. I have the HD solo rack and will be buying the Kriega US20 & US10 for longer trips:

Don't really care for the easy brackets, makes the bags stick out way too far from the fender.. If your handy with tools and can get your hands on some metal it is a very easy fabrication to make what you want.

i like to be able to have bags sometimes and not on othertimes... mine have handles so they are like two suitcases- as far as taking them on and off,
