Default drilled belt guard

i was hoping to drill some holes into the belt guard, like the buckshot guard from the nightster, or a 50 cal. machine gun.
oh i should probably mention i have an '11 iron.
i was wondering if anyone on here has done this. im sure i seen one or two on here somewhere.
if so, what drill bit was used? or will any do?
do i risk any cracking or chipping
any tips?
thanks

Not sure if your piece is powdercoated or painted. You'll want to put a strip of tape on the exterior where you plan on drilling. Less risk of any chipping/cracking the finish.

I'd also use a punch to dimple and mark your spots. It will help keep your bit from wandering. Maybe start with an 1/8 th inch bit to pre drill and then go with your final sized bit. I like to use a 1/4 inch bit with the pilot point make drilling metal a lot easier.
