Check on Craigs list buddy of mine got one heck of a deal. He just got a 2005 883 converted to a 1200 with skull package and all the bells and whistles. Guy wanted $5000 he got hime down to $4300 by waving cash in front of him. Real nice bike for that price. Check on there too, some people will go down in price especially if you wave cash in their face.
Not sure where to post this but here it goes. I live in upstate new york and have always wanted a HD. Been looking at a 07 883 from a dealer. Been burnt by buying bikes off private owners so I would like to get one from a dealer. It has a little ovre 11k on it but in nice shape. Dealer was asking 5295 and could only get them down to 5000. Does this seem way to high or about average for the are im in. P.S. its bone stock no extras.
Well I bought mine from a dealer and mine is an 2006 with mustang touring seat, drag pipes, after market mirrors and some extra chrome with less than 5000 miles and I paid 5400 so your deal might be about right

Around here that asking price sounds about right to maybe a tad low. I'm a bit disheartened to hear the dealer wasn't really willing to deal. I know HD dealers have a reputation for being unwilling to negotiate on the price of new bikes (though I hear you can sometimes get some accessories thrown in), but I was hoping that they would deal on used bikes.
I really like the dealer, every one there was rather nice. I offered them 4800 wich I thought was a fair deal. I just don't know enough about Harley's. Thanks for the replies.
I got my 09 XL883L with 3900 miles on it for $4000, bikes are cheaper during the winter here.. not that I'd advocate missing a season to get a deal. I wouldn't avoid private sellers entirely, you can get great deals on low mileage bikes if you pay attention to craigslist.
