I'm a new rider and I want to look into getting a new sportster. I've been reading reviews about the iron 883 vs.. The nightster. I 100% agree with with the people saying "get a nighters because you be bored of the 883 quickly" but I'm on a serious budget. Is it really worth the extra 2000$ for the bigger engine? I And I also love how the iron looks.
Be patient and search for what you really want. I searched for a couple months and just picked up a nightster with 2,500 miles with a crap ton of accessories for $6k. There are deals out there, you just gotta find them.
I bought the Iron for the looks. I'm fat so a 1250 kit and porting the heads will come in time. Save the 2 grand and invest it into the Iron as the money allows.
Thanks guys.. That's exactly what I was thinking.. I want to start with the iron 883 because of the easy payments and the looks. Since I'm a new rider I feel like it's a good bike to start.. And since I'm also a mechanic I can do any mods I feel like myself. Also I heard they're discontinuing the nightster because the 1200 custom is about the same price and they're not a hot seller
Since you are mechanically inclined, go get the 883 and with the 2k you save, you can blow all that money on mods and have a lower insurance rate cause technically it's an 883
I'd look for a used nightster. People get all excited and buy a Sportster, only to find out they they ride rough, vibrate and the seats suck. So the glamor wears off and the bike sits until they sell it. Then people like us get a practically new bike for an awesome price.
