I know you've already made up your mind, but take into consideration whether you'll be riding solo or not. I have an 05 883 and find that it struggles a little when I ride 2 up. It's my first bike and I didn't really think nor care about all that at the time, but now a bit more power would be nice. If you plan on riding 2 up more often than not I'd go with a 1200. Just my 2¢.

 

ninja 250 is faster than iron or nighster in the range of 0-100km, so if you want power, buy a proper rocket!
