Nice job, and the reward is that you did it yourself. Congrats

Hi. I just purchased a Sportster and would also like to invert the mirrors but I was under the impression that the front turn signals would need to be relocated. From the first picture you posted it doesn't appear that you needed to this? Can you explain how you went about doing this?

Thanks,

Justin

What year? The looks are deceiving. If you have a later year w a separate hole for the mirror and turn signal there will be a set screw in front of the turn signal on the mount. Crack this loose and the signal can swing like a pendulum. Swing them in and the mirror can clear them. My buddy has a 2003 and his mirror and signals share a hole through the grip mount. He's screwed lol.

I empathize w the guy. It had me fooled for a bit too. Without knowing that the signals can swing (which is unusual for most fixtures..... Barring Harley) it looks like it won't work without completely removing them. "brainless" is a bit much there, chieftain.

So the pipes turned out great and now I am considering other ways to get the look I want without breaking the bank on random pieces of metal and plastic.... (haters gunna hate)

So... derby cover - I am having a lot of trouble finding one that I like that also has the 6 hole orientation needed for my bike. But I am not a fan of the giant chrome plate bolted to the side of my transmission.

So, I am considering doing something similar to the pipe job I did above.... but this time I am thinking spray on truck bed liner. Anyone have any experience or input on something like this?

If I am feeling fancy I am going to spray a red undercoat on part of it and mask off a Johnny Walker logo (tentative plan.... may go with something else), but I think it is worth a shot for a part I will otherwise throw away next year anyways.

Looks good dude, but way to much work. The black heat shields cant be that much more. Just think everytime you put a nick in the paint your gonna be pissed and end up taking it all off again for a redue, otherwise you gotta do what you gotta do if your short on cash!

Actually with the coatings in there the paint holds up pretty well. The black shields are about 170 more and this cost me 15 bucks. If I do nick them I can just take some fine grit paper to it and give it another coat

Pipes look good man and if you can save some money then why not, seem like you took your time on it. By the way SF is a body man so if he tells you something paint related I would listen, he is not a BS'er
