Arizona's "Tail of the Dragon"

Arizona has 26 peaks that are more than 10,000 feet in elevation.
Arizona has 3,928 mountain peaks and summits—more mountains than any one of the other Mountain States (Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming).
Rising to a height of 12,643 feet, Mount Humphreys north of Flagstaff is the state’s highest mountain.
The coldest temperature recorded in Arizona was 40 degrees below zero at Hawley Lake on January 7, 1971.
The longest remaining intact section of Route 66 can be found in Arizona and runs from Seligman to Topock, a total of 157 unbroken miles.

Yep, great ride. I made the mistake of starting in Wickenburg, up to Prescott then to Jerome. Beautiful ride except going south to north you're on the cliff side lane most of the time. Damn, it's seems like miles from the edge of the road to the bottom sometimes.
Really made my butt pucker up quite a few times. Next trip, it's Jerome to Prescott to Wickenburg so I'm hugging the mountain. I know, I'm a woosie.

the ride from Wickenburg to prescott is fantastic. Coming up the mountain is two lane and so much fun I usually go back down and do it again. two lanes up, 1 lane down, high speed sweepers. At the top is the Bagdad cafe and then you start down to prescott. Major twisties downhill with scarey dropoffs to rocks below. Do the speed limit. Prescott to Jerome is a nice ride, a little crowded sometimes. In two weeks we are doing it in the other direction, uphill in those twisties will be more fun. Oak creek canyon from Sedona to Flagstaff is a wonderful lazy run along the river and the trees change from cottonwoods to pines. I will be there 4/10-13, riding the best roads I have ever ridden. Bike week will be over, more sanity on the roads. Enjoy Az.

I was staying in Prescott and came back after lunch in Jerome. East to West is definitely the way to go.
Same here. So much fun!
Everyday. What a great state this is!

Looked it up on google maps. Looks like fun. I'll have to get out there this summer. It'll make a great weekend trip, 5 hrs just to get to Alpine, 2 hours on the twisties, 5 hrs to get back home!
