Default Forward to mid controls

Hey guys,
I just jumped over from the Dyna side and have a few questions. My wife just got a 2007 883 custom with forward controls. She is on the shorter side and wants to go with mid controls. I found a guy that has a 2005 and is willing to trade for the forwards. Will the mid controls from the 2005 fit the 2007? I'm guessing I only need the mounts and linkage bar? All the bolts and pegs I should retain? Thanks for having me over here.....

Yes it will fit. I believe all you will need is the brake linkage and the shifter.

Perhaps this is the easiest way to get what you want, but I think that the forwards are much more valuable and this should be done in two different transactions. On eBay, a nice set of mids can be had for $100 or less, but forwards are going to cost someone significantly more. I'd sell your forwards and buy the mids, versus a trade. It could net you a good chunk of change.

If you keep the forwards you can switch back. I reallly like the forwards.

You'll also need the brake pedal, forward frame mounts, clevis pins for brake and clutch. The only part that's the same is the shifter peg (the peg, not the lever).

Thanks for the feedback eveyone. I really like the way the forwards feel to me. I may keep the forwards and just buy the mids. Seems like the guy on craigslist may not wanna trade....More i ride this sporty the more i want it for me.

You might give it a bit of time. My g/f is also short - we lowered her Dyna Lowrider as well as her Fatboy so she can comfortably flat foot it. But she has no problems riding my 08 XL1200L with forwards. Took her a ride or two to get used to them. Your wife may find the same if she gives them a chance.

Another option is getting a reduced-reach or super-reduced-reach seat. It moves the shorter rider closer to the foot-controls and the handlebars. A seat is under $150 and takes under 2 minutes to install.

I've got a set of mids I'm looking to unload. They are off my 09 nightster. Send me a message if you want them. $70 shipped.
