Hi all,
Thinking about getting the 2012 IRON 883. Love the black. It will be my first bike and I am an all out beginner. I stand 5' 4" will I be able to flat foot this bike without customizing? Figured I'd post here first before I go 50 miles to the nearest dealer.

Close, but not totally flat footed. I'm 5'5" with a 28" inseam. Close enough, but not really flat footed until I put a shorter saddle on.

 

Thanks schwing... so get a shorter seat and I should be good. I was worried about lowering shocks as a friend of mine who rides says that lowers shocks can mess with the whole look and performance??

 

Before you purchase the bike, you may be able to talk the dealer into changing out the seat.

I have a 29" inseam and went with a Fatboy Lo. I had no problems. Then I had the seat customized (instead of trying out HD's Reach Seat or Super Reach Seat) and added Shotgun Shocks (which have 4" of travel). I can sit really low now if and when I want to. However, I don't ride with it slammed all the way much unless it is pretty much a smooth and straight road since the ride can be rough and much easier to scrape things. BTW, Shotgun Shocks are air shocks with an onboard air compressor that are adjustible on the fly via two toggle switches.

 

Being flat footed is very overrated. One foot is fine, make it the left. I'm 5'8" and use the ride a KLR 650. The seat was about "33.
