Everything from the pistons and connecting rods to the crankcases and valves are Buell specific. The Buell has higher-flow cylinder heads, NASCAR-inspired valve-train that pulls to a 7500-rpm redline. I read that the motor is 40 pounds lighter than the 1200 Sportster. The bike is not a torquer, but more along the lines of a metric sportbike.

They are torquer's (depending on the year) compared to metric sportbikes. The thunderstorm version had 90 lbs of torque and 101 hp at the crank. They just happen to produce most of that up top in the rpm range.
