Don't listen to the honda guy, the sporty is a fine peice of machinery. I have owned most jap brands and have no more problemsout of the HD than them. It's all what you want!

The Honda Guy is telling you the truth when he speaks about the older harleys. I had friends that had bought harleys in the mid 70's and they shook and leaked oil like crazy. In fact we always made fun of those guys.

I did a lot of research when I re Entered the motorcycle world again back in 03.I did a lot of demo rides on metric and harleys of all types. I ended up with a 04 1200 C. I have been very happy with this bike, Thus far it has been perfect.

I would highly reccomend any Sportster 04 or newer.

Good luck,

Your "friend" is giving you bad info. I have an 05/1200C and it is very smooth and does not leak oil. The only engine mount that came loose was the nut on the front motor mount and yes, there was a run of those. Easy to tighten and it stayed tight. Great bike, no buyer's remorse. BTW: My other Harley is a 1972 XLCH that I bought new. That one does vibtrate but it does not and never did leak oil. I think that most post 1970 Harley's that leaked oil were not properly maintained. It took some folks a while to realize that castings need to be reinstalled to the proper torque to avoid warping.

I had BOTH of these problems before 300 miles. Dealer fixed 'em and I'm up to 2700 miles with no other issues. FUN BIKE.

I took a ride on a 2006 1200C and a 2007 1200C and the 2007 1200C will be the bike that I will be buying. The throttle felt so smooth with the EFI. I thought I would have problems with the forward controls, but it was a real pleasure to ride. So comfortable. Felt likeI had rode the bike for years. I'm sold on the HD. I looked at all the Jap bikes and there are not to many that even compare with the quaility of machined parts. It's amazing when I went to look at a Honda how the salesman really trashed HD.They wouldn't even let me take a test ride.I just walked out. I will be buying a HD

Your friend might just be trying to save you some of your hard-earned money. If you want a Harley, get a Harley!
