McGill
I heard the same stuff from Harley owners. In Milwaukee people who work for harley get employee discounts on the bikes. A couple told me that if they didnt work there then they would've bought a Goldwing. For the same reasons, leaks and crap. 2 years later I ask about their leaks and they dont have any.

The first bike I ever bought was a 06 sportster. I love it and no problems. When I was looking around at bikes you can tell a huge differnce between a harley and any other bikes. The workmanship on a harley is better in my opinion. The parts dont look cheap, the welding and the whole package.

Just my opinion.

That's something you hear from folks who are trying to discourage you from something you may have heard.Almost like an urban legend. If you don't know anything about them.you can generalize, and hope the person goes along with you.The fact's are they are not oil leaker's,as has been said ,that was corrected in the 90's.I personally don't think they are overpriced, some are expensive,I bought an 07 for 6595+++.An example was a 900cc Kaw was 7395 And it;s a boat 64in wheelbase.Wasn't lookin for that.I got 883cc almost a $thou less. And it's a Harley, and that count's for one helluva lot! Oh yeah,no excessive vibes for a twin.

I went by my local dealer and rode a used 06 sportster and loved it but I told a friend at the local honda dealership and he said that harley's have a problem with there crank cases leaking oil and they vibrate alot and you have to check the engine bolts to make sure they didn't loosen up after each ride..

Is this true or is he trying to sell me a honda...?
Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. I have an 06 Custom and have none of the problems he mentions. Sounds like he's trying to justify his position as a Honda salesman IMO. One thing for sure.... he doesn't know **** about 06 Sportsters.

i have a 2000 883, the engine isnt rubber mounted so the vibration is there but its not bad, i actually kinda like it unless im going on a real long ride. Stick with an 04 or above year and you wont have to worry about the vibration. No leaks though.

WOW! Old, old news...My 05 1200C has almost 13k, the only oil leak was when I added too much oil, the vibration is well managed with the ruber mounts and with the SE II baloney cut slip ons, it sounds the way a motorcycle should! You friend, the salesman needs to quit livn in the past!

I think maybe your "buddy" is a little JEALOUS that YOU CAN buy a Harley and if he does, he'll probably lose his job at the honda shop. Misery loves company, .............get the sporty.

Is this true or is he trying to sell me a Toyota Camray..?
He admitted, as a used car salesman, anything to make a sale. I'll bet this applies to what you were told.

I have a 2000 XL1200C and It's as good as new after 6 years and 26K miles.
