Default Getting new pipes for my 2012 Iron 883

The dealership told me that I needed to get a tuner kit (SE Stage 1) for my bike if I wanted to put new pipes of my bike. Why can't I just bolt the pipes on and ride?

A part of me wants to get the tuner kit done but the other part of me senses that it isn't really needed and harley is just trying to make more money off me.

Default Get some XiEDs

Many on this forum have had great success with XiEDs from Nightrider Performance, myself included.

Check them out here

Depending on the exhaust you're putting on you MAY run a little bit lean. I know if general consensus that if you don't do the intake as well then you'll be fine but I installed Rush slip-ons with 2" baffles, kept stock intake, put new plugs in, checked them 100 miles later and based on the plugs I was running very lean. Ordered the SE Intake and a set of XiEDs and now I'm good to go.

Don't drink the Koolaid and do some research and you'll be fine. Can't stress enough the use of the Search function on the forum, if you're having issues with the forum's search engine go to Google and use the "site:hdforums.com" string then whatever you're searching for. Tons of info and knowledgeable folks here.

you can do pipes without fuel management, but you wont get the best ride... and hey, a good fuel management system isnt expensive. that bike will run like a different machine when you set it a bit richer. mine was about $250- bike runs like a rocket now (i also did the sucker and you should consider that too- when you open up the outlet you should also open up the inlet)!
