My attitude is the newest one you can find and afford.. Why no EFI?
I have nothing against carbs, I have had a lot of bikes and only one with EFI, and never had a problem,, but that being said, my only EFI bike is my 09 Sportster and not had any issues with it at all.

Yeah from what I read on here I'd rather have an EFI bike. I read about problems with Carbs, not that they're major but I rarely read anything negative about EFI.

very good info guys !!! im also looking into a sporty myself, i might try leaning toward 05 and up if i can.
