Man, you guys have it cheap in the states.

Up here in Victoria British Columbia Canada, I pay approx $70 a month for my "883" Not sure how much a 1200 is but I know it is more. Everyone in BC has to buy their basic insurance through the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) a government crown corporation. That $70 a month is only for basic insurance, I am 44 years old with a clean driving record. My comprehensive coverage is through a private company and I pay about $350 a year for that.

You can get instant quotes on the Progressive site and can compare the two. Just for grins, get a quote for a Suzuki Hayabusa while you are there. It will make the Sporty insurance look like a bargain.

Age is going to be a big factor as well as cc's. My 650 v star was $123 a year for full coverage, my 883 sportster bumped it up to $140 a year full coverage and that includes an additional policy replacing $3000 worth of add-ons and accessaries if something happened so all my goodies aren't washed down the toilet. That's all with Progressive (and they provide road side assistance and some other perks too). I know there was a decent bump in price if I went over 1000cc but not horrible, then again I'm 28 with a spotless record.

I'm 21, at college and pay 700 full coverage on my 883 (2005). Having good grades discount helps. I was in a wreck when I was 18 (guy stopped in the middle of the road because he dropped a cigarette on his lap and I tossed the bike rather than hitting him). So 700 with a wreck. I do mine in 4 payments

What kind of insurance do you have for that amount? Driving record?

I'm planning on moving up to Vancouver, BC later this year and this is just one more thing I'm not looking forward to. I pay about $300/year here in WA.

I'm 25 and have a 1200 nightster. I pay around 300 for the year with progressive and its full coverage with road side included. Found them to be the cheapest with bike insurance.

geezusss! you guys are paying an arm and a leg for insurance, I have full coverage through allstate, I'm 22 now, ride an 08' 1200 nightster, and I pay $112 a year. I have a discount for being a student, and possibly for being military (not sure on that one though)... needless to say, I'd shop around though, call them up and say you are switching to someone else, and I bet you anything they'll give you some sort of discount just to keep you from leaving.
