Talking Upgrade-3" tank lift-functional now!

I have to admit that I stole this idea. But I think it looks better and acually serves a purpose now!

That's pretty cool and inventive, even if it wasn't your idea.

Did you put one on each side or is there something else on the other side?

I have them on both sides but with the length of the bolt that mounts through the frame I doubt I could use the left one to acually open a bottle. I guess that one is just asthetic haha

Think I found my next mod. I have a 2" lift right now, I think 3" might be ok.

It's acually pretty funny. about six months ago I was at a yard sale at the end of my street and there was a guy selling a bunch of stuff. One of the things he had were these bottle openers (at the time my tank was not lifted) so I walked around the bike looking for a place to bolt it on, but could not find anything practical so I did not buy it. fast forward to a couple of days ago and I was headed to the store to get something to drink and saw that guy was set up again. So I stopped in and sure enough he had two of them left that just so happened to have mounting holes that were 3" apart, so I bought them. after opening the holes a bit with a dremel, they bolted right on. they dont stand out near as much as I thought they would but I think they look pretty good on there. Im sure if you wanted to bad enough you could find a place to put one without lifting the tank.

Looks really good!

We have played around with making tank lifts like this. Problem is that we cannot find any bottle openers that will hold up to the harmonic vibrations our bikes generate. One thing we have played with is putting a strap behind the opener to give it some strength (can't weld em...they are all pot metal).

Unless you found some better quality ones than we have been able to find, you might want to put something behind it to take the actual lift stress.

Not to worry too much, we have never had both sides break at the same time going down the road.
