Sportsters are supposed to have some vibes to them. Lets you know you're on a motorcycle, not a recliner. I'd take the '03 in a heart-beat.

Get the 03 it's the end of an era, very nice bike and anyone that says they shack like mad hasn't ever ridden one.

All great feedback...in the direction I was leaning (2003)...will chop/alter into custom bobber...better call & make the offer.

I would hold off and take a look at the 05. Still carbed but rubber mounted motor and modern style. I find that there are many more options for the 04+ sporties when it comes to parts/farkles. If you are going to keep it for a townie then you won't miss the extra power like another member mentioned. I would go with the 05 my friend.

its does not shake bad at all...get the 1200, especially if its the dual plug "S" model

2003 has more parts options. If I had it to do over, I would go with 2003 and down for sure. I'm sure the newer ones are better. But I just like the older ones better.
