Question Sportster Low Seat

I bought a 2005 Sportster Low and every time I take it out my hips hurt. My physical therapist told me I needed to change my seat to a seat that can make me sit 2-3 inches further back. Any idea what kind of seat would do the trick? Thanks

I replaced my stock seat with a Mustang wide vintage seat, and I love it. My hips and back don't hurt anymore when I ride. I estimate that it moved me back about an inch or two and up about an inch or two, so it might be just what the doctor ordered. I used to have hip and back pain after 30 to 40 miles. I can now ride all day long without getting sore. Highly recommend the seat.

One of the problems, unless you are very petite, is that your knees are probably higher than your hips. So one solution is to use a higher seat, perhaps setting you a little further back as well. Swampdoc's suggestion is the one I am considering for my SuperLow.

I'm in the same pickle. The solid mounts don't help either. Those Mustang seats are EXPENSIVE.

I have an 09 1200L, same problem, I bought the Mustang Vintage solo seat and can
now ride all day no problem, first after market purchase after buying the bike in 09. The best price I found new was westendmotorsports.com
Good luck.

The Mustang seats aren't cheap, but they are worth every cent IMHO. Honestly, one of those seats will be the first thing I put on any other Harley I ever get. I enjoy spending the weekends exploring the country roads and like being able to spend 6 or 8 hours on my bike without pain. I guess if I was mostly using it for less than 30 mile rides I'd have been ok with the stock seat, but for what I like to do mine was a great investment.

Rog, that looks great! I'd find a more vintage sack for the back, but that tank and bag looks good. The saddlebag is reminiscent of the tan leather 1911 holsters of WW2.

My only hesitation with buying the Mustang is that I don't really plan on keeping the Sporty for TOO long. I'd like to buy a Dyna in a couple years, and of course the seats don't interchange. I keep hoping I'll find a used one for a couple hundred and rock it out. I'd LOVE one with a backrest, but now I'm just dreaming!

I have a 2007 low and went 850 miles in 4 days last memorial weekend on the stock seat. My backside/hips felt like they were on fire by the second or third day. I ended up finding a slightly used mustang regal duke on craigslist $125, retails for $320. Haven't felt any pain since. I also have forward controls.
