1966 Sportster tire choices?
gang,
wondering if anyone knows what tires would have been on my '66 XLH?
I need a new rear; it says 4.25 / 80 -18
I have to check the front
I have found Dunlop 404's to look vintage (Brit bikes mostly) and a Dunlop K70, but would either of these been original? probably not
any suggestions as to close to the original look?
without compromising safety of course. I ride hard but do not race street or track
thanks

thanks!
I did see the Avons but was not sure if they were better than the Dunlops.
Just looking for something safe, good quality grip and a nod to either vintage or original
are Goodyears not available anymore? or just not a vnitage style tire?
probably will go with the Avons
thanks again

I haven't seen Goodyear bike tyres since that 1970s bike! I don't think they still make them. Harley has used Dunlops for most if not all the time since. I am a keen fan of Avon tyres and have used them on my Harleys for most of the time since I changed those Goodyears! I don't know if they are better than the Dunlops you mentioned, but the Avons are what I would chose for my older style bike.
Hope that helps!
