Default stock shock length on 02 1200

I put a deposit on an 02 sportster for my wife today and will be picking it up next saturday.

She wants me to lower it a little for her and am wondering if anyone knows the length of the stock shocks. Thanks for your help.

Well, it depends on which 2002 sportster it is.

You can go to the progressive suspension site and get the length of their aftermarket replacement shock that is closest to the stock length (it will be highlighted in yellow). For the 1200 custom, that's 11.5" at Progessive and for the other '02 1200 sportsers it's 13.5".

Thank you

I don't think it is a Custom as it has a 19" front wheel and not a 21.
I suppose the smart thing would be to wait until I put it in the garage and order shocks after a true measurement.

(my guess is that they are 13.5s) So if I go down to 11.5s she should be more than comfortable. Nice thing is the bike only has 1705 miles on it.

Thanks for the help.
